Ann Orlowski is a painter based in Madison, WI. She skillfully uses line and color to play with our vision, manipulating our perspective and spatial awareness. Each piece deconstructs the visual world, breaking elements into simplified forms and reconstructing them in new and innovative ways. Her compositions are deliberate, concise, and organized. This methodical approach to painting arises from an interest in problem solving.

Orlowski translates the three-dimensional world onto a two-dimensional plane by incorporating geometric forms that create a sense of volume while using lines to flatten the visual space.

Orlowski holds a BFA from the University of Northern Iowa, where she focused on printmaking. Since then, she has developed her painting practice and exhibited her work throughout the United States. Her pieces have been featured in numerous juried exhibitions, including the Trout Museum of Art, TMA Contemporary in Appleton, WI, the DuMA Biennial at the Dubuque Museum of Art, Dubuque, IA, and the Midwestern Biennial at the Rockford Art Museum, Rockford, IL. In 2024, Orlowski was awarded the prestigious Dane County Forward Art Prize.
